APA, MLA, Chicago, AMA, IEEE, ACS, ASA and CSE use materially different rules for authors, dates, titles, source details, numbering and punctuation. Lynara keeps a dedicated formatter for each style instead of treating citation style as a cosmetic template.
Formatting is deterministic rather than AI-written, which keeps the rules predictable and lets each page focus on structured metadata, source review and style-specific guidance.
Which citation style should you use?
Use the style required by your instructor, department, journal or publisher. Styles are not interchangeable: author names, dates, title capitalization, journal details, DOI presentation and punctuation can all change.

DOI import without AI-written citations
For journal articles, Lynara can retrieve publisher-deposited metadata from Crossref by DOI. Citation formatting itself is deterministic code, not an LLM response. This reduces hallucination risk while keeping author, title, journal, year, volume, issue, pages and DOI editable.
For AMA and CSE workflows, PubMed/NLM metadata can also assist with journal abbreviations when a matching record is available.
Why you still need to review the result
No citation generator can prove that a publisher deposit is complete or that your instructor follows every default rule of a style manual. Compare the generated entry with the source itself, especially capitalization, author order, edition, page range, journal abbreviation and publication date.

Can one source be converted between styles?
Yes. The same bibliographic metadata can be formatted differently by each style-specific engine, but you should review source-specific details after changing styles.
Does DOI lookup guarantee a correct citation?
No. DOI lookup reduces manual typing, but metadata can be incomplete or differently capitalized. Lynara keeps imported fields editable and shows verification warnings.
Why are there separate pages for each style?
APA, MLA, Chicago, AMA, IEEE, ACS, ASA and CSE use materially different rules. Separate canonical tools let Lynara implement and explain those rules without pretending that citation style is only a visual template.
Are citations generated with AI?
No. Citation formatting is deterministic. AI-backed study tools are a separate part of Lynara and remain behind their own cost and abuse controls.
