How are semester grades calculated?
In equal-term mode, Lynara averages the two term or quarter grades first, then applies the final-exam weight. Term scores of 90% and 80% average to 85%; with a final score of 100% worth 20%, the semester result is 85 × 0.80 + 100 × 0.20 = 88%.
Choose custom weights when the syllabus assigns a different share to each term and the final. With term scores of 90% and 80% weighted 30% and 50%, plus a final score of 100% weighted 20%, the result is 90 × 0.30 + 80 × 0.50 + 100 × 0.20 = 87%. Enter every required component: if the three weights do not total 100%, Lynara normalizes them; it does not infer a missing category. If a gradebook excludes ungraded work, the displayed current percentage can also change as new scores are posted. Use this calculator for transparent what-if planning and compare the result with the official grading policy.

Can I use a 40 / 40 / 20 semester formula?
Yes. Choose custom weights and enter 40% for each term or quarter and 20% for the final exam.
What if my weights do not total 100%?
Custom mode normalizes the positive weights you enter. Check the displayed weight total and use the exact syllabus percentages when available.
Can I set the final weight to zero?
Yes. In simple mode the result becomes the average of the term grades; in custom mode a zero-weight final does not affect the weighted result.
