Weighted Grade Calculator
Use weighted categories such as homework, quizzes, projects and exams to estimate the current overall grade with transparent normalization.
Weighted grade examples
A weighted grade gives more influence to categories with larger weights. If exams are 60% of a course and homework is 40%, improving the exam average changes the overall grade more.
Useful scenarios
- Weights total 100%: enter the syllabus percentages directly.
- Weights do not total 100%: Lynara normalizes the entered weights rather than forcing an incorrect total.
- What-if planning: change one category score to see how much the overall weighted grade moves.
Formula
weighted grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight)
Example
A 90 score at 40% and an 80 score at 60% produces an 84% weighted grade.
Useful for
- Course category weighting
- Current grade estimates
- Scenario comparison
Questions
Do the weights need to total 100%?
