Editorial policy
How Lynara keeps study tools useful, original, testable and clear about their limits.
Purpose of the site
Lynara publishes free academic calculators, citation utilities, study-planning tools and supporting guides. A page is intended to solve a specific student or teacher task rather than exist only to target a search phrase. When two search phrases describe the same workflow, the preference is to consolidate them into one useful tool or guide instead of creating near-duplicate pages.
Originality and useful depth
Guides are written for the calculation, citation decision or study workflow they accompany. Lynara does not republish scraped articles, copied passages or collections of third-party text. Short reference notes are not promoted as full editorial guides until they contain enough explanation, examples and limitations to stand on their own.
Public guide pages are linked from the guide library only after they pass the current content-quality gate. If a guide later falls below the required depth, duplication, rendering or indexability checks, it is withheld from normal public indexing until the issue is corrected rather than left promoted as finished editorial content.
Calculator methodology and testing
Deterministic calculators use visible formulas or explicit rules. Core calculation logic is implemented in shared TypeScript modules and covered by automated tests. Product or institution-specific assumptions are kept editable whenever a universal value would be misleading. A calculation can be mathematically correct while still being the wrong model for a particular syllabus, school policy or dataset, so each tool also states the assumptions that users need to verify.
Citation and research utilities
Citation formatting is rule-based rather than generated as free-form AI text. Imported DOI or bibliographic metadata is treated as a starting point and remains editable because metadata providers can contain missing fields, capitalization differences or records that need source-level verification. Guides separate the factual identity of a source from the punctuation and ordering required by a citation style.
How guides are produced
Drafting and editing can use software and AI assistance, but raw generated text is not treated as a source or published merely because it is fluent. Claims that depend on an external citation style, scoring system or identifier standard are checked against the relevant authoritative documentation; deterministic examples are checked against the same formulas and rules used by the tools; and production gates check rendered depth, excessive duplication, metadata, links and indexability before a guide is promoted.
Automation is used to make consistency checks repeatable, not to replace source verification. When an authoritative rule changes, the relevant guide, tool logic and tests are reviewed together so the explanation and the calculator or formatter do not silently diverge.
Sources and verification
Where a rule depends on an external standard, Lynara prefers primary or authoritative sources such as official style guidance, publisher metadata, recognized statistical references and institutional documentation. The Sources & verification page describes the source register and verification approach used across the site. If a course, journal, school or publisher gives instructions that differ from a generic example, those local instructions take priority for that user's work.
AI-assisted features
AI-only tools are not treated as a substitute for deterministic calculations or verified source data. They remain outside the public search index while generation is disabled. When enabled, AI output is presented as assistance that should be checked against course material, source documents and assignment requirements.
Updates and corrections
Pages are updated when formulas, citation editions, source guidance or product behavior changes. Material editorial revisions update the visible review date on affected guide pages. If a user reports a reproducible error, the relevant formula, test case, source rule or rendered output is checked before the page is changed.
To report a problem, use the contact page and include the page URL, the inputs or source type involved, the result you received and what you expected. That makes it possible to reproduce the issue instead of guessing from a general description.
Advertising independence
Advertising does not determine calculator results, citation rules, editorial conclusions or which corrections are made. Ad placements are kept separate from interactive controls and publisher content. A page that is not considered ready for public indexing is also excluded from normal ad-serving eligibility in the site templates.
