Attendance Percentage Calculator
Check your current attendance rate from the class meetings that have actually occurred.
Privacy: calculator inputs are processed in your browser; Lynara does not need to upload these values to calculate the result.
How many of your remaining classes must you attend?
Suppose your attendance record is 27 attended out of 30 meetings. Your current rate is 27 ÷ 30 × 100 = 90%. That is a snapshot, not a prediction. If ten more meetings are scheduled, the course will have 40 in total. To finish at or above a hypothetical 90% threshold, you would need at least 36 attended meetings, which means attending 9 of the final 10.
| Future attendance | Final count | Final rate |
|---|---|---|
| All 10 | 37 of 40 | 92.5% |
| 9 of 10 | 36 of 40 | 90% |
| 8 of 10 | 35 of 40 | 87.5% |
Use the calculator above for current attendance only. To test alternative future attended/missed counts, open the Attendance Projection Calculator. To convert a known final schedule and your actual institution's minimum percentage into a permitted absence count, use the Absence Limit Calculator. These tools answer different questions, so neither should silently substitute for your class policy.
Before relying on a projected threshold
The 90% requirement above is an example, not a universal attendance rule. Confirm whether your school counts excused absences, mandatory practical sessions, partial days, make-up classes or cancellations differently. When a policy gives more weight to certain sessions or treats clinical/lab attendance separately, a single overall percentage can mislead you. Check the official gradebook before making a decision about missing class.
Formula
attendance percentage = classes attended ÷ classes held × 100
Why attendance percentages change after every class
- A student has attended 42 of 47 classes held. The current attendance rate is 42 ÷ 47 × 100 = 89.36%, with 5 missed meetings.
- If the next three meetings are all attended, the counts become 45 attended out of 50 held: 45 ÷ 50 × 100 = 90%. Update both counts, not just the attended number.
- If instead the next meeting is missed, the rate falls to 42 ÷ 48 × 100 = 87.5%. One extra absence increases the denominator while leaving the attended count unchanged.
What the result tells you
The current percentage is a snapshot. The same student can cross a 90% threshold after three attended meetings or move farther from it after another absence.
Before you use the result
Confirm how your school records partial classes, excused absences and cancelled sessions. A percentage from meeting counts cannot decide whether an absence is permitted under a course policy.
Useful for
- Current class attendance
- Tracking missed classes
- Checking attendance before a course deadline
Questions
Do excused absences count as missed?
That depends on your course policy. Enter the attended/held counts the way your institution defines them.
Can I calculate how many more absences I can have?
Use the Absence Limit Calculator and enter the course meeting total plus the minimum attendance requirement.
