Course Workload Calculator
Build a workload estimate from assumptions you control instead of treating one study-hours-per-credit rule as universal.
Privacy: calculator inputs are processed in your browser; Lynara does not need to upload these values to calculate the result.
Formula
weekly workload = credits × chosen study hours per credit + scheduled class hours
Turn the weekly total into a schedule you can inspect
- A chosen budget of 2 study hours per credit across 15 credits gives 30 study hours per week.
- Adding 15 scheduled class hours produces a 45-hour academic week. Spreading the study portion over five days requires 6 study hours daily, in addition to classes.
What the result tells you
The total can reveal a scheduling conflict before you commit. The hours-per-credit figure is your planning assumption, not a measured requirement for every course.
Before you use the result
Account separately for laboratories, placements, commuting and paid work. Do not add class hours twice or mistake a generic study allowance for a course-specific obligation.
Useful for
- Semester workload planning
- Comparing credit loads
- Estimating weekly study plus class time
Questions
Why do I choose the study-hours-per-credit value?
Course difficulty and student needs differ, so Lynara does not hard-code one rule as universally correct.
Does this include work, commuting or sleep?
No. It estimates only the academic hours represented by your class and study inputs.
