How to Calculate the Final Exam Score You Need

A final exam only affects the fraction of the course assigned to it. The remaining fraction is already represented by the current grade.

Method

  1. Convert final weight to a decimal.
  2. Multiply current grade by the non-final fraction.
  3. Subtract that contribution from the target.
  4. Divide the remainder by final weight.

Worked example

Current 82, final weight 30%, target 85.

82×0.70=57.4; (85−57.4)÷0.30=92 required.
