Writing Time Calculator
Estimate how much drafting time remains from the word target and a writing pace based on your own work.
Privacy: calculator inputs are processed in your browser; Lynara does not need to upload these values to calculate the result.
Formula
remaining writing minutes = (target words − words already written) ÷ writing words per minute
Drafting time excludes work you have not included in the measured pace
- A 2,000-word target with 500 words drafted leaves 1,500 words. At 20 drafting words per minute, that portion takes about 75 minutes.
- A separately budgeted 30-minute evidence check and 20-minute edit would bring the complete task to 125 minutes.
What the result tells you
Separate research, drafting and editing so the estimate can be adjusted when a particular stage takes longer.
Before you use the result
Typing speed is not a sustained writing rate. Include citations and submission work in your plan without assuming that the drafting formula already covers them.
Useful for
- Essay drafting plans
- Writing-session estimates
- Planning remaining words before a deadline
Questions
Should I include editing time?
No. The core estimate uses active drafting pace. Add separate time for research, citations, revision and proofreading.
What writing speed should I enter?
Use a rate measured from your own drafting sessions when possible.
